real life," says Gymnastics Coach Liang Chow. And Chow should know. A
former national champion gymnast and celebrity in his native China, Chow
took a chance when he came to the U.S. in 1990 with wife Liwen Zhuang,
accepting a gymnastics coaching position at the University of Iowa in
exchange for learning English. He and Liwen eventually opened then
their own gym in West Des Moines, Iowa, and began a legacy of coaching
gymnastics superstars. Starting with his serendipitous meeting of a
6-year-old Shawn Johnson in 1998 who also happened to live in West Des
Moines, to his current status as the personal coach of top-seeded
Olympian Gabrielle Douglas, Chow is a maker of champions and a superstar
in his own rite."
With his recent success story mentoring/coaching Olympic star, Gabby Douglas, things can only become brighter in the future. Take a look at this clip:
